On the surface, the game's new offereings are added story content and a new character class to explore with and level up.
Reaper of Souls revamps almost every aspect of the game, making it more like its predeccessors that fans originally fell in love with. The new expansion feels like it takes things even further to give fans what they wanted to begin with.

Fortunately the last game update (prior to Reaper of Souls' release) got rid of the Auction House entirely and gamers are free to loot at their leisure and have to put in some actual effort to level up and explore dungeons. Not to mention how flooded the Auction House became with unnecessary loot and jacked-up prices. In essence, it faced the same issues as "pay to win" games do on mobile. Rather than make for engaging experiences, players were able to buy the best gear without putting in any work or crafing skills.
The key component of the game was the Auction House, where you could buy and trade the loot you find for real-life money.įor many, this was the aspect of the game that killed the fun. For those gamers who enjoy such things, it was kind of a bummer that the game initially held very little replay value, or longevity. I've never been a diehard of the franchise, sinking in hours upon hours of playtime and looting dungeons long after I beat the final boss.

Now the game's first expansion, Reaper of Souls, has released, adding in new content and changes fans have been asking for. While I enjoyed the experience, but even I recognized the repetitive nature of the game, and it's lack of a firm end-game plan kept players from enjoying it past beating the initial campaign which was sadly pretty short. When Diablo III released back in 2012 diehard fans of the franchise weren't overly thrilled with it.
